What is Augmented Reality?
Augmented reality brings elements of the virtual world in to the real world, enhancing the things we see, hear and experience by overlaying virtual information over the top of our natural existing environment.
Augmented reality production works by superimposing a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the world, viewed through a mobile device such as a phone or tablet, thus allowing the user to mix the real world with the virtual world.
Apple CEO Tim Cook
“I think AR is that big, it’s huge. I get excited because of the things that could be done that could improve a lot of lives”
Why Augmented Reality?
AR is beneficial in many industries. In the building trade, it can hugely enhance training and design, by overlaying elements to a building to help an architect, in essence, see things behind walls. Healthcare is another area that is benefiting from this technology, enabling medical students to see layers of the human body and select areas they want to focus on, while still interacting with a real human body.
