The trip, which was organised by the Department of International Trade, along with The Landing at MediaCityUK, came about after the Indian Business Minister visited Manchester to invite a handful of leading VR companies including, Holovis and BDH Interactive, to represent the UK.

After the Createch summit itself, Chris Guerin, MD of Short, took the Immersive Tech group to Bangalore, where he had been invited to participate in a group panel debates focussed on how VR & AR can benefit enterprise and the challenges faced by both producers and users of this new wave of technology enterprise.

Reflecting on some of the highlights of the trip he said:

“The whole trip was an incredible experience, and it was fantastic to get the chance to speak to Prince Edward about VR, and I was pleasantly surprised about his depth of knowledge on the subject.

Visit to Technicolors The Mill & MPC

“Visiting Technicolor’s The Mill & MPC in Bangalore, two world-class VFX studios with Oscars and awards to both of their names, was also inspiring and it was fascinating to see all the old stereotypes of Indian outsourcing quashed. While the UK,US & Canadas are often tied by high productions cost, the marked difference here was the level of creativity, design and direct contact with clients and brands. Indian studios are a perfect collaboration with much large and more cost-effective production pipelines.

“It’s for this reason that we have partnered with an Indian based studio, to enable us to provide our clients with the most cost-effective solutions teamed the best in design and knowledge from the UK”.

chief executive officer of Jaguar Land Rover

“Overall, the trip was hugely beneficial.  As well as opening the door to working and collaborating with Indian Studios, we connected with some amazing UK organisations. We’re currently working on several proposals for these organisations, with a view to future collaborations. “
