Technical animation studio swops aerospace industry for air ambulance
On the 24th April I took part in one of the biggest challenges of my life, scaling the gigantic Liberty Heights in Manchester to raise valuable funds to build a helipad landing site at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The superhero-themed event, which saw me dress as my alter-ego “ShortMan”, was part of the £3.9 million Time Saves Lives appeal, which aims to to shorten the transfer time for patients who are flown in by air ambulance for treatment, hugely increasing their chances of making a full recovery.
As the MD of a technical animation studio I spend my days working with some of the world’s leading areospace companies and so it seemed fitting to take a day off to raise funds for a very different kind of aviation vehicle.
The Helipad Appeal will allow RMCH to help many more seriously ill or injured children, saving precious minutes and making a difference which, for those children – and their families – can last a lifetime.
Terrifying? Yes.
Exhilarating? Definitely.
